TOBACCO PLUS’S FIRST ANNUAL FISHING TOURNAMENT SPONSORING ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S RESEARCH CENTER

Rules & Regulat​ions

Tobacco Plus welcomes you to the 1st annual Tobacco Plus fishing tournament on May 28, 2022, sponsoring St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This tournament is for the sole purpose of raising money to support the children and families of this organization.

The following items WILL BE checked and if any rules are broken this will be cause for immediate disqualification: Fishing licenses, boat registration, kill switch, horsepower rating & alcoholic beverages.

The tournament will be held regardless of weather. Should conditions threaten safety, please use caution.

IF the Red River is deemed to be off-limits or unsafe by the Red River Water Way Commission or Corps of Engineers on the tournament day, another option will be available closer to that date.

All state and local penal codes shall apply AT ALL TIMES. All State, Coast Guard, Federal Parks & Wildlife & Fisheries regulations shall apply at all times. Each person in boat must be a paid contestant. Participants under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or an adult.

​ALOCHOLIC BEVERAGES:

NO alcoholic beverages are to be consumed by tournament contestants nor are alcoholic beverages allowed in contestants boats during official tournament hours, unless tournament contestant is finished fishing.

SAFETY:

ALL boats must be equipped with some type of emergency ignition cut-off device (kill switch) on any remote steered outboard while main engine is in use. Kill switch must be attached to boat operator at all times while main engine is in use. Kill switch must be operated properly. When kill switch is activated, the outboard main engine must stop running immediately. However, kill switches are not required with hand operated engines unless equipped with one when manufactured. US Coast Guard life jackets are required for each person in boat. Life jackets must be worn and fastened while main engine is in use. No boat shall have a motor of higher horsepower than the approved Coast Guard maximum.

PERMITTED FISHING AREAS & HOURS:

Contestants may only leave from the St. Maurice Marina launch site. Tournament hours are from safe daylight until 3pm. You MUST be back at the launching site at 3PM, any boat that is later than 3pm WILL have a late penalty.

TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT:

ALL bass must be caught on artificial bait by casting. No live bait! No trolling with big motor. Contestant may only use one rod at any one time. Other rods may be in the boat for substitute purposes. Bank fishing is NOT permissible. No electronic tracking devices (implanted microchips) may be used to locate fish for tournament purposes.

WEIGH IN SPORTSMANSHIP AND CONSERVATION:

Sportsmanship, courtesy, and conservation are expected from every participant. All bass weighed in will become the property of the tournament and will be released back into the lake alive, if possible. All contestants shall be required to bring their boat and respective partner with them to the weigh in site when weighing in bass. No bass on ice. Bass must be ALIVE when weighed in. All bass brought to weigh in station must be in weigh in bag with water. This is a mandatory catch and release program during official tournament hours. No contestant may have more than five bass in possession at any time during tournament hours. Minimum length of bass to be weighed in is 12 inches. Official measuring board is the CHECK-IT-STIK. Only large mouth, small mouth, and Kentucky spotted bass (Black Bass) will be weighed in.

EVERY CONTESTANT, by signing the entry for, and/or participation in the tournament, agrees to submit a polygraph examination. Polygraph test will be given on a random basis and must be passed.

I hereby enter the above “TOBACCO PLUS’S FIRST ANNUAL TOURNAMENT SPONSORING ST. JUDE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL,” I have read and understand the rules and waive and release all other Contestants, Tournament Directors, Tournament Sponsors, and their Agents from all claims of personal injuries, accidents, and/or damaged, lost or stolen property incurred in connection with the tournament. I understand that my entry is a voluntary contribution to “St. Jude Children’s Research Center.” I herby grant permission to the tournament and all tournament officials the right to publicize, video tape, photograph and/or broadcast my name, character likeness, or voice and the fact that I was a participant and/or prize winner, and all other matters incidental thereto. If I place for any prize, I will submit a polygraph examination or be disqualified and will abide by such results. Contestant Ratifies and approved entry in the above “Tobacco Plus’s First Annual Fishing Tournament sponsoring St. Jude Children Research Hospital” made on his/her behalf by another and agrees thereby to be bound by all rules of the tournament.
